The bottom line for me as a clinician is that women of any age, together with their partners, deserve to have satisfying sexual & intimate lives for as long as they want, menopause, whether in the future or recent past, is not a reason to abandon that desire, expectation & experience - in fact, it's an opportunity to reflect on these aspects of life & maximise the opportunities this time of life presents!

This webinar aims to help women, & those who care about them, prepare for & navigate this perfectly natural transition that's inevitable for most women & support them to enter into this next phase of life feeling enlivened, empowered & with deeper self knowledge & awareness.

More about the webinar.....
The vast majority of women in the world (51% of the global population) will experience natural menopause some time between the ages of 45 & 55, the age a woman is when she experiences menopause depends, in part, on what part of the world a woman is from & symptoms can begin up to 10 years before menopause.

For the purposes of our webinar we use the WHO (World Health Organisation) definition of menopause, ''natural menopause is deemed to have occurred after 12 consecutive months without menstruation for which there is no other obvious physiological or pathological cause and in the absence of clinical intervention.''

Despite how prevalent natural menopause experience is globally, it is only in very recent times in 'western' countries that the topic has begun to be discussed in an open, factually correct manner. Often ignored in these discussions is how women in their perimenopause years, the possibly 10 years leading up to menopause, & the post-menopause years are impacted in terms of their sexual lives, whether single or partnered, as well as the intimate relationships those women may have.

Crucially, menopause can significantly effect most women in exactly these aspects of our lives & so having accurate & accessible information can help prepare for those changes as well as help navigate them as smoothly as possible when they happen & can make the difference between a confusing & distressing period of life vs one where a woman, together with her partner if she has one or more than one, feels in control as much as is possible.

We will explore:
- the physiological changes experienced by most women both approaching & shortly after menopause, paying particular attention to how those physiological changes can specifically impact sexual function, expression & pleasure as well as intimate relationships.

- the common psychological & relationship changes experienced by many women at this time of life.

- the less tangible changes experienced by many women at this time of life, changes some might call existential or 'spiritual'.

- what women, & their partners, can do to maximise the opportunities & minimise the difficulties at this time of life when it comes to sexuality & intimate relationships.
